First, adorable mistakes of the day:
Why don't India have old people much?
I took off my shoes and soxes.
Today I head off to Sapporo for the snow festival. It's fabulous and exciting and I've been dying to travel, but it doesn't really feel like it's happening. Once I get there I'm sure I'll get a second wind, but for right now I'm tired and cold and really not looking forward to racing to a train after work when I haven't even finished packing yet.
I was excited that it's already February, but it reminds me of how much I hate this time of year. I definitely need to take some time living out of the cold for a few years in order to maintain sanity through the end of my life. Grad school in Hawaii looks more and more appealing with each passing day, more and more so each year. No wonder old people move south.
This morning I found my gas wasn't working, and the gas controls all the hot water in the house, as well as the cooktop. It seems weird that they'd cut it on me for paying at 6 PM on the day its due, but I'm hoping that's what it is instead of a broken fixture. I'm also hoping the reactivate it without me having to call them. I decided not to worry about it until I get back from Sapporo on Sunday. It did, however, make for a painfully cold shower this morning and my skin stung for a good hour after it ended.
I feel frustrated because again I didn't get to studying Japanese nor GRE material today, but I corrected a ton of papers and had two classes. I don't have class again until March now because of testing, so things will ease up. This is particularly appealing because I just corrected 40 writing assignments comparing the data from two graphs. The topic?Percentages of the populations dominated by specific age groups in Indonesia and Sweden. It was a bloodbath. It drove me to drink in the middle of the afternoon - I had to go downstairs and get a coffee from my friend the lunch lady just to finish them.
Just over 3 weeks left in February, the last 10 days of which Jonno will be visiting. There's also a holiday (no work :D ) and 2 weekends away shoved in there. Here's hoping the month flies!
